Lexington Grand Generation Center. Located at 407 East 6th Street, the Lexington Grand Generation Center is a senior citizens center operated and funded by the city of Lexington, West Central Nebraska Area Agency on Aging, and donations. The center provides recreational, social, and nutrition programs for citizens of the community age 50 and over. Lunch is served at the Center Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. (308) 324-2498
Center Meals. Lunch is served at the Center Monday-Friday (12 noon). The meals prepared at the Center meet daily nutritional requirements and are all low-fat, low-cholesterol, and low-salt with special diabetic meals available. Reservations are suggested by 9:30 a.m. There is a suggested donation for persons age 60 years and over. Those under 60 are welcome, but will be charged a set rate.
Home Delivered Meals. Home delivered meals are provided to persons unable to prepare regular meals. The service also enables those who have been hospitalized a chance regain their strength. Some special diets are available for medical reasons. There is a suggested donation for persons 60 years and over. Those under 60 are welcome, but will be charged a set rate.
Activities. A variety of scheduled social, recreational, and educational programs are available. The Center's newsletter has a calendar of monthly events. Activities include: parties, exercise class, crafts, quilting, bowling, line dancing, square dancing, ballroom dancing, bingo, evening meal, blood pressure clinic, foot care clinic, cards, pool, etc.
Information & Referral. Information and referral is an important service offered at the Center. You can call us to receive information on a variety of services such as Social Security, Heartland Share, care management, homemaker/housekeeper, weatherization, chore/handyman, legal assistance, questions concerning medicare, and insurance claims, etc.
Lexington Family Aquatic Center. Located at Memorial Park, 1002 N. Monroe Street, in Lexington (Exit 237), the Lexington Family Aquatic Center is the place for swimming and outdoor recreation. The Center has a zero-depth pool, a lap pool, two water slides, concession stand, bathhouse, and sandy play area. The Aquatic Center is open every day of the week Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend. For further information, call (308) 324-6288.
